It's basically going to be a "Franken gun" in the end. With the Century gun, it's not going to be completely correct if that's something that bothers you. I don't know what an inch parts kit will go for these days, or what a build will cost you. I did it during the AWB and options for "cheap" were limited. Price wise, I don't know what to tell you there. It worked fine through it's various incarnations, and my family certainly got it's money's worth out of it. I shot it a bunch as is, and my SIL wanted to build a para, so we used it for that. I never got around to cutting and threading the barrel. I never got around to getting the cloning complete. With the Tosh shorty, I figured it didn't matter. So unless you're going to do something in the vein of a shorter barrel, it's probably not worth going with one to convert it. Century generally just cut and recrowned to get rid of the evil threads. I already had pre-ban Inch and Metric guns, so this was basically a project to play with. My intention was to cut it down an get something like Tosh's rifle, which I also found cool. In addition to the required US parts, I had to put new springs and fiddle with a couple odds and ends, but it would have been no different than a build on an inch kit there really. The rifle headspaced and ran fine to begin with, so I didn't have to unscrew really anything, just de-neuter it. The conversion was easy and straight forward.

Hey, it's Century, so you get whatever was easiest for them to make that week. Some of the Imbels were milled for inch mags. The one I had used metric mags, which was fine for me as I had a buttload of those. I have no information on the quality of the other receivers they used.

I'd make sure you know what you're buying as far as what receiver, etc. Various incarnations used other receivers, and even the ones built on Imbels have different configurations as far as "inch" or "metric" goes. The Century gun I used had an Imbel receiver.
